Food Safety

Your family's safety comes first

Mise at Home is built to help you make the most of what is in your kitchen. Here is how we approach food safety, and what you should know.

Our Standards

  • Cooking temperatures align with Health Canada and USDA guidelines
  • Storage recommendations follow established food safety standards
  • Ingredient combinations are screened for common safety considerations
  • Recipes are generated using AI models informed by professional culinary standards

Allergen Awareness

  • Set dietary restrictions and allergen profiles for your household
  • Always verify ingredient lists before preparing any recipe
  • AI-generated modifications may introduce unlisted ingredients
  • Cross-contamination risks cannot be assessed by the App

Nutrition Estimates

  • Nutrition values are AI-generated estimates based on recipe ingredients and portions
  • They have not been verified against an external database
  • For medical dietary needs, consult a registered dietitian
  • Use estimates as a general guide, not a clinical reference

Temperature & Storage

  • Use a food thermometer - do not rely solely on visual indicators
  • Refrigerate perishables within two hours of preparation
  • Refrigerator at or below 4°C (40°F), freezer at or below -18°C (0°F)
  • When in doubt, discard - the cost is always less than the risk
